Dezincification Resistance — Why DZR Brass Matters

Specifying DZR up front is far cheaper than tearing out a failed brass joint later.

Ordinary brass can suffer dezincification — the selective leaching of zinc from the alloy, which leaves behind a weak, porous copper structure that cracks and leaks. It is a common failure mode in chlorinated, soft or aggressive water and is why UK, EU and coastal specifiers demand DZR brass.
