Case Study · Private Label & ODM
From “I want my own brand” to a first container on the water — one importer built a private-label PEX-AL-PEX and PEX line on Hitze’s German-engineered, cUPC- and NSF-certified platform, at a low MOQ that made entry realistic.
This page is for importers, distributors, and private-label brands — not for end consumers. It walks the path from inquiry to a certified, own-brand first container.
Illustrative scenario. Client identity, figures, and timelines are anonymized and shown as representative placeholders pending an authorized reference — not a specific transaction.

What It Looks Like
A private-label line is more than a logo — it’s a printed pipe, a custom carton and a container your buyers can put on a shelf. Real staging photos below; captioned frames show the own-brand shots being finalized (client marks are anonymized).
The Challenge
The buyer — a North American importer (anonymized) — already had distribution and customers asking for radiant-floor and potable-water pipe. What they didn’t have was a product they could put their own name on, without three roadblocks.
Their market expected German-engineered performance — oxygen-barrier integrity (DIN 4726 / EVOH), true PEX-AL-PEX layer bonding (ASTM F1281/F1282), no callbacks. Generic OEM sources couldn’t prove it.
Traditional private-label programs demanded full-factory runs — volumes that made a first order a five-figure gamble before a single coil sold.
Selling into North America means cUPC/UPC (IAPMO) and NSF/ANSI 61 are non-negotiable. Selling into the EU/UK means DVGW / WRAS / CE + DoP. An own-brand line with no listings is dead on arrival.
Each roadblock, on its own, stalls a private-label launch. Together they explain why so many importers stay stuck reselling someone else’s brand: they can’t get German-engineered quality, a realistic entry volume, and market-ready certifications from a single source. That is exactly the gap the ODM program was built to close.
The Solution
Hitze structured the launch as a German brand + ODM program: the importer got the engineering and certifications of a German-engineered platform, wrapped in their brand identity — sized so the first order was a container, not a factory.
Logo, brand name and spec markings printed on the pipe surface, plus custom cartons, coil banding and labels.
A sample-friendly first order scoped as a single container — a real market test, not a bet-the-company run.
cUPC / NSF / CE listings carried into North America and Europe from the first shipment, with the Cert Pack.
The engineering, the standards and the certifications stayed Hitze’s; the brand on the pipe, the print on the carton and the label on the coil became the importer’s. What arrived in port looked, on the shelf, like the importer had built the line themselves — because, in every way that a buyer sees, they had.
Hitze applied the importer’s logo, brand name and spec markings directly to the pipe-surface print run (size, series, standard, meter marks), then built custom cartons, coil banding and labels. The product stayed German-engineered to EN ISO 21003 / DIN 4726; the shelf presence became 100% the importer’s brand. Print layout, colorways and SKU count are set per project.
See the ODM Program →Instead of a full-line commitment, the first order was scoped as a low-MOQ, sample-friendly first container — a realistic test of the importer’s market before scaling. Exact MOQ and first-container mix are confirmed per SKU and print spec at quotation. This is the core of why the launch happened at all: the downside was a container, not a bet-the-company order.
Request Your MOQ & Quote →Certification support for their target market. Hitze’s line ships already certified to cUPC/UPC (IAPMO), NSF-14, NSF/ANSI 61, DVGW, WRAS and CE + DoP — so the importer’s own-brand line inherited market-ready listings on day one. Hitze supplied the Cert Pack (certificate references, DoP, test summaries) for the importer’s customs and buyer due-diligence. Specific listing numbers are available on request.

Representative — pending authorized reference
The importer went from no own-brand product to a certified, German-engineered private-label pipe line — printed, packed and containerized — without a factory-scale first order. Detailed sell-through and reorder data are added once an authorized reference is in place.
The Product Lines
A private-label line usually opens on the highest-demand SKUs. These are the German-engineered products this scenario launched under the importer’s own brand — each available for ODM print and packaging.
