Type & Process

PEX-a, PEX-b or PEX-c? Match the Crosslink to the Market

All three meet the same ASTM F876/F877 performance grade. The difference is the crosslinking process — and which install method and price point your buyers expect.

For expansion-fit systems and the most demanding cold-weather flexibility, buyers reach for PEX-a. For crimp/clamp installs at a sharper price, PEX-b is the volume workhorse. PEX-c sits in between. Hitze extrudes all three so you don’t have to split your order across suppliers — one PO, one set of paperwork. Switching brands? See how our 5-layer PEX-AL-PEX compares as a Rehau alternative.

Potable Safety

Potable-Water Safe PEX — NSF/ANSI 61, Lead-Free, Every Market

Drinking-water listings are the difference between a product you can shelve and a returned container. Hitze potable PEX is built and supported for exactly that.

Hitze pipe is tested and certified by SKZ (Süddeutsches Kunststoff-Zentrum, a German plastics testing institute) and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874. On top of that base, our potable lines are made for drinking-water contact and supported to NSF-14 and NSF/ANSI 61 for North America, listed via cUPC (IAPMO), and paired with lead-free brass (DZR / CW724R) fittings. For the UK and EU we support WRAS and DVGW, plus CE + DoP.

EVOH · DIN 4726

Oxygen-Barrier PEX (EVOH) for Hydronic Heating

In a closed heating loop, oxygen diffusion through ordinary pipe corrodes boilers, pumps and manifolds. The barrier layer is not optional — it’s the spec.

Hitze PE-RT & PEX heating pipe is built as an EVOH oxygen-barrier multilayer construction — the EVOH layer blocks oxygen diffusion per DIN 4726, protecting steel and cast-iron boilers, pumps and manifolds across the hydronic system, over a 50-year service life. It runs 16 × 2.0 through 32 × 4.4 mm in coils of 100–300 m. Use barrier PE-RT/PEX for closed heating loops; use non-barrier potable PEX for domestic water — one certified source for both. See the full oxygen-barrier PEX (EVOH / DIN 4726) spec.

Tool Compatibility

Works With Your Tools — Press, Crimp, Clamp & Expansion

A PEX order is only useful if it fits the fittings and jaws your installers already own.

Hitze PEX is dimensioned to ASTM F876/F877 so it works with standard crimp (copper ring), clamp (cinch), push-fit and expansion methods, and with press fittings across common 16 / 20 / 25 / 32 mm sizes. Our press fittings use a brass body + stainless sleeve + plastic ring and are matched to standard TH / U / F / M jaw profiles. Tell us your tooling and we confirm compatibility before you order — no surprises on-site.

FAQ

PEX Pipe FAQ — Wholesalers, Contractors & Importers

Should I stock PEX-a or PEX-b?
For the WholesalerStock to your market’s install method. PEX-b (silane) is the lower-cost crimp/clamp volume seller; PEX-a (Engel) is the premium, most-flexible, expansion-fit line. Hitze supplies PEX-a, PEX-b and PEX-c under one PO, all to ASTM F876/F877 and SKZ-tested — so you cover every buyer from one source.
Is this PEX safe for potable water?
For the ContractorYes. Hitze pipe is SKZ-tested and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874. Our potable PEX is made for drinking-water use and supported to NSF-14 and NSF/ANSI 61, listed via cUPC, and paired with lead-free (DZR / CW724R) brass fittings. For the UK/EU we support WRAS and DVGW. Certificate and listing numbers are provided in the Hitze Cert Pack and are verifiable at source.
Will it work with my crimp or press tool?
For the ContractorYes. Hitze PEX is dimensioned to ASTM F876/F877, so it fits standard crimp, clamp, push-fit and expansion methods, plus press fittings in 16/20/25/32 mm across TH/U/F/M jaw profiles. Send us your tooling and we confirm compatibility, then ship a sample to test one joint first.
Do you offer an oxygen-barrier version, and can you private-label it?
For the Importer / Private-Label BrandYes. Our PE-RT/PEX heating pipe is an EVOH oxygen-barrier multilayer blocking oxygen diffusion per DIN 4726, with a 50-year service life; non-barrier PEX serves potable water. Both are OEM/ODM ready with your logo and packaging, and we align certification to your market (SKZ/DIN, cUPC/NSF, DVGW, WRAS). There is no MOQ — start with samples or a small trial order and scale into private-label production from there.
What sizes and coil lengths can you supply?
For the Importer / DistributorOur PE-RT/PEX heating pipe runs 16 × 2.0 mm through 32 × 4.4 mm (OD 16 / 20 / 25 / 32 mm), an EVOH oxygen-barrier multilayer in 100–300 m coils, red/orange/black/pink, with a 50-year service life. Full dimensional and pressure/temperature data, including exact per-size ratings, is detailed in the technical data sheet, available on request.
