Trust & Compliance

Pipe Certifications — Verifiable Market Access for North America & Europe

For a piping brand, a certification is not a logo — it is the difference between a container that clears customs and one that gets rejected at the dock. Hitze’s baseline is German-standard proof you can hold in your hand: our PP-R lines are SKZ-tested and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874 — printed right on the pipe.

On top of that we organize compliance around two markets at once — North America (cUPC / UPC, NSF-14, NSF/ANSI 61, CSA, ASTM) and Europe / UK (DVGW, WRAS, CE + DoP, DIN 4726, EN ISO) — and we make every claim verifiable: read the mark, check the number, at the source.

Written for importers, distributors, private-label brands and contractors who carry the compliance risk — your due-diligence starting point.

The German-Standard Baseline: SKZ-Tested, DIN 8077/8078 & EN ISO 15874

Before any regional listing, Hitze pipe starts from a German engineering baseline you can verify on the product itself. Our PP-R lines carry three marks that are printed on the pipe and backed by documentation we can show.

German brand, proven at the source: Hitze is a German brand — the trademark is registered with the Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt (German Patent and Trademark Office, Munich) under No. 30 2020 005 484, a hard third-party record you can look up yourself. The brand is backed by 50+ years of manufacturing heritage (founded 1974) and production to German DIN standards — engineered in Germany, built to DIN.

Tested performance you can quote: Every Hitze PP-R type is pressure-classed from testing, not marketing. The self-cleaning ceramic-core (green, red-stripe) and fiber-glass-reinforced lines are rated class 1 = 10 bar / class 2 = 8 bar; the aluminium-composite line is rated class 1 = 6 bar / class 2 = 4 bar — all across OD 20–110 mm (DN15–DN90), to DIN 8077/8078 + EN ISO 15874 + SKZ.

North America

North America: cUPC / UPC, NSF-14, NSF/ANSI 61, CSA & ASTM

In North America, a plumbing product is only usable if the local inspector (AHJ) will accept it. That acceptance runs through a chain of certifications — each one testing a different thing.

CertificationBodyWhat it testsWhy it = market access
cUPC / UPCIAPMO (listing)Product complies with the Uniform Plumbing Code; carries a printed listing markAHJs accept the product for installation; without it, it fails inspection
NSF-14NSFPlastic piping material, performance & markingBaseline material certification for PEX systems
NSF/ANSI 61NSFNo harmful contaminant leaching into drinking waterEffectively mandatory for potable-water lines

Europe & UK

Europe & UK: DVGW, WRAS, CE + Declaration of Performance, DIN 4726 & EN ISO

Europe and the UK run on a different compliance logic — national approvals (DVGW, WRAS) plus CE marking backed by a Declaration of Performance (DoP), and product performance defined by EN ISO and DIN standards.

Certification / StandardRegionWhat it coversWhy it matters
SKZGermanyIndependent testing/certification by the Süddeutsches Kunststoff-Zentrum (German plastics institute)German third-party proof of the polymer piping — printed on our PP-R lines

DVGWGermany / DACHGerman water & gas certificationThe benchmark approval for German-standard potable & heating systems
WRASUKWater Regulations Advisory Scheme — potable safetyRequired for products contacting drinking water in the UK
CE + DoPEUConformity marking + manufacturer’s Declaration of PerformanceLegal basis for placing construction products on the EU market
DIN 4726Germany / EUOxygen-diffusion (EVOH) barrier for underfloor heatingPrevents oxygen ingress that corrodes boilers & manifolds

EN ISO 15875EUCrosslinked polyethylene (PEX) piping systemsStandard for PEX heating & potable systems

Why the German lens matters: As a German brand, Hitze treats DVGW + DIN 4726 as the engineering baseline. The oxygen barrier (EVOH layer) required under DIN 4726 blocks the oxygen diffusion that corrodes boilers and steel manifolds in closed hydronic loops — a detail cheap pipe skips. See our pipe technology for how the multilayer structure is built.

Hitze status: Hitze’s PP-R lines are SKZ-tested and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874 — the marks are printed on the pipe, so this proof is available today. Hitze also holds DVGW and WRAS approval and CE marking backed by a Declaration of Performance, and our multilayer and PEX lines are certified to EN ISO 21003, EN ISO 15875 and DIN 4726. The SKZ certificate is available on request; the specific DVGW/WRAS certificate and DoP numbers, plus exact per-model coverage, are published in the Certification Pack and verifiable in the DVGW and WRAS official registers — available on request.

Verifiability

How to Verify a Certification — Don’t Trust It, Check It

Any supplier can print a logo. A real listing lives in the certifying body’s public register. Here’s how to confirm one in under two minutes.

1

Read the mark on the product

Genuine pipe and fittings carry a printed certification mark and a listing/certificate number.

2

Go to the certifying body’s official database

Not a supplier PDF — the real register:

  • cUPC / UPC → IAPMO official listing database (search by company or file number)
  • DVGW → DVGW online certificate register
  • WRAS → WRAS approved products directory
3

Search the exact number

A valid product appears under that number, tied to the certificate holder and product scope.

4

Check the scope

Confirm the listing covers the specific product and size you’re buying — not just “the brand.”

Hitze listing numbers: Hitze’s PP-R lines are SKZ-tested and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874 (marks printed on the pipe), and the German brand is registered with the DPMA in Munich under No. 30 2020 005 484 — both verifiable today. Hitze also holds cUPC/UPC, NSF-14, NSF/ANSI 61, DVGW, WRAS and CE + DoP; the individual listing and certificate numbers — and a direct link to each entry in the official register — are published in the Certification Pack and available on request, so you can verify every one at source.

Potable Safety

Lead-Free Compliance for Potable Water

For drinking-water systems, the metal matters as much as the pipe. Hitze specifies low-lead / lead-free brass for potable fittings and manifolds.

  • DZR (Dezincification-Resistant) brass — grades such as CW724R and CW511L — resists the corrosion that leaches zinc and fails in aggressive water.
  • Aligned with the North American weighted-average lead limit for wetted surfaces and intended to pair with NSF/ANSI 61 for drinking-water contact.
  • Applies to press fittings (brass body + stainless sleeve + plastic ring), push-fit / compression fittings, and manifolds.

Hitze status: Hitze potable fittings and manifolds use low-lead / lead-free DZR brass (grades such as CW724R and CW511L) and are certified to NSF/ANSI 61 for drinking-water contact, meeting the North American weighted-average lead limit. The specific NSF/ANSI 61 listing numbers and grade-per-model coverage are published in the Certification Pack and available on request.

FAQ

Certification & Compliance FAQ

What proves Hitze is really a German brand and German-standard?
For EveryoneTwo hard, third-party records. The Hitze trademark is registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA, Munich) under No. 30 2020 005 484, and our PP-R lines are SKZ-tested (a German plastics institute) and built to DIN 8077/8078 and EN ISO 15874 — printed on the pipe. Hitze was founded in 1974.
Is Hitze cUPC listed for North America?
For the Importer / Compliance BuyerYes. Hitze pipe and fittings hold cUPC/UPC listing — the IAPMO listing that lets PEX and fittings be accepted by AHJs under the Uniform Plumbing Code. Every listed item carries a printed mark and number you can verify directly in IAPMO’s official database — no PDF required. Listing numbers are available on request.
Is the potable line NSF/ANSI 61 certified?
For the Contractor / InstallerYes. NSF/ANSI 61 certifies a product won’t leach contaminants into drinking water above health limits — effectively mandatory for potable lines in North America. It pairs with NSF-14 (material/marking) and low-lead brass. Hitze holds these certifications; listing numbers are available on request and verifiable in NSF’s register.
Does Hitze have DVGW and WRAS for Europe and the UK?
For the DistributorYes. DVGW is Germany’s water/gas certification; WRAS is the UK potable-water approval — each the recognized market-access mark for its region, searchable in its official register. Hitze holds DVGW and WRAS approval; certificate numbers are available on request and verifiable in each body’s official online register.
How do I verify a certificate is real?
For EveryoneRead the mark and number printed on the product, then search the certifying body’s official database directly: IAPMO for cUPC/UPC, DVGW for German approvals, WRAS for UK potable approvals. A genuine listing appears under the exact number, tied to the holder and product scope — verify at source.
Are the brass fittings lead-free?
For the Private-Label BrandYes. Hitze specifies low-lead brass for potable fittings and manifolds — dezincification-resistant DZR grades such as CW724R / CW511L — meeting the North American weighted-average lead limit and matching NSF/ANSI 61 for drinking-water contact. NSF/ANSI 61 listing numbers are available on request.
